Grand  Knights
     Message

             March, 2010

Brother Knights,

          This month I think I share the thought with you that we hopefully have seen the last of snow. We are quite busy planning for future events. Upcoming events include a Membership Drive at Holy Cross on March 20-21. We will also be having a Night at the Races at the Hertlin House on April 17^th. In the near future we are planning a Blood Drive, a Wine Tasting Party, and a Communion Breakfast for the Knights in our council. These events will take place in future months but we are in the planning stages now. We hope you will join us for these events. We could use your help in the planning or the actual event itself. Remember, any time you can give for these events would be greatly appreciated. We were also planning to have a Country Western Square Dance at St. Elizabeth Parish. Father Dan wrote me a letter asking for our help in purchasing a defibrillator for the church. He asked me to go to the monthly meeting of the fundraising committee to present our idea of a Square Dance. I did that and the fundraising committee reacted very positively to the idea. I left that meeting with the agreement with Joe DelBroccolo, the chairman, that our council would get started making preparations. One week later I was informed by our FS Al Yoli that the event was taken away from us and given to the Youth Group to run. When I called Mr. DelBroccolo he told me that they were doing this “for the children”.  This is not the first time that our council has been shut out of an event that had been planned. It has happened with the past two Grand knights also. I think this will require further discussion at our meetings.
